Uganda Airlines lifts you out of Entebbe at 8:30am and lands the whole family in Johannesburg by 11:45am — just in time for a full afternoon of settling in and first explorations.

Wednesday, 10 December

Then, the Apartheid Museum — and this is where the trip becomes something more than sightseeing. The museum tells the story of apartheid and South Africa's journey to freedom with extraordinary honesty and care. Nelson Mandela's story runs through it — his imprisonment, his resilience, his extraordinary legacy. Children who visit this museum leave with something no classroom can give them: the feeling of history, personally understood.

Thursday, 11 December
Gold Reef City is Johannesburg's most beloved theme park — built on the site of a real gold mine and packed with rides, shows and experiences for every age. Roller coasters for the brave. Gentler rides for the little ones. Live entertainment. A gold mine tour that takes you underground into the history of the city itself.
The children will need at least three attempts to persuade you to leave. Budget accordingly.
Friday, 12 December
Montecasino is one of Johannesburg's most extraordinary entertainment complexes — and the whole family wins here. Themed streets that look like an Italian village under a painted sky. Restaurants covering every cuisine imaginable. Arcade games, mini golf, and a children's entertainment area that could keep the kids busy for an entire afternoon.
While the parents enjoy a quiet, unhurried lunch for possibly the first time all week.
Saturday, 13 December
The Mall of Africa is not just a mall. It is an experience. One of the largest malls on the African continent — over 300 stores, an enormous food court, and enough to keep even the most reluctant shopper thoroughly occupied all day.
Let the children spend their holiday money. Pick up something beautiful to take home. Find a restaurant for a long family lunch. The evening is free — a final Johannesburg dinner, or simply the hotel pool. You've earned it.
Sunday, 14 December
Uganda Airlines departs Johannesburg at 12:45am — a quiet drive to the airport and home in Entebbe by 6:00am.
Flights: Johannesburg (00:45) → Entebbe (06:00)
