Friday, 24 July
The drive from Kampala takes you to the ferry landing — and the moment you board the boat to Kalangala, the city starts to feel very far away. The lake opens up around you. The islands appear. The children stop looking at their phones.
Brovad Sands Lodge is waiting on the other side — your full-board home for the next two nights, sitting right on the lakeshore with white sand underfoot and Lake Victoria stretching as far as your eye can follow. Lunch is ready the moment you arrive. The water is warm.

Saturday, 25 July
Wake up to the sound of the lake. Breakfast on the shore. Then Ssese shows you what it's made of.
The morning belongs to the quad biking island tour — winding through forest tracks, past fishing villages, through banana plantations and pockets of jungle that remind you Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. The children will come back dusty, loud, and completely alive.
The afternoon is pure lake. Swimming in warm water with no agenda and nowhere to be. For the bold — jet skiing across the open water. Tricycle rides around the grounds. Peddle boats for the more contemplative members of the group.
Then the golden hour — the sunset cocktail cruise carries you out onto the lake as the sun drops behind the islands. The water turns copper and gold. This is Uganda, and it is genuinely breathtaking.
After dark, the beach campfire brings everyone together — warm light, cool lake air, and the kind of evening that reminds you why you needed this weekend.

Sunday, 26 July
A final full-board breakfast with the lake at your feet. One last swim. One last look at the water before the boat carries you back to the mainland and the road takes you home to Kampala.
The children will ask when you're coming back before you've reached the ferry.
